First impressions

My first impressions of Feed by M.T. Anderson. I was once again shocked by the swearing within the first few paragraphs of the book. Boom on page three the word shit is already used in the second sentence of the page. Similarly to Eleanor and Park in both of the books I was shocked to see swearing so soon in the book. I guess swearing early on in the book can prepare the reader for what's to come later on. I guess in my mind I am not expecting such language because on the back on Feed it is recommended for ages fourteen and up, I personally don't know any fourteen years old who swear, but then again maybe I'm being optimistic. Another thought I had on Feed was that it had a slow start to the book. With that being said I often found myself getting bored of reading, I was just hoping the book would get more interesting. I think if the author would have given more background of what exactly is going on, in the beginning, I wouldn't have been so bored reading this book. I also found it strange how the characters were talking about things that happened on earth such as college parties, but then the event was happening in outer space. It was interesting to read about high schoolers trying to get into college parties, I remember doing the same thing when I was younger. I also did like how the characters had a lingo, such as my generation.  Reading Feed I am definitely stepping outside of my comfort zone. I am hoping I will come to like this book and the more interesting parts are later to come. I also hope that I will later recommend it to my future students or peers.

  1. I agree with you I thought it started out kind of slow. After about 50 pages or so I thought it finally picked up and the story got pretty interesting. I think this was about the time the hacker had touched them.

  2. I also wish the author would have given us more of a background on what is going on in the beginning because I as well was kind of confused.
